Retractable Bollards Provide Rapid Vehicle Access When Needed

Retractable, collapsible, or "telescopic" bollards satisfy a number of needs in architectural and landscape planning.
Retractable bollards provide distinct property & security enhancements: directing traffic and protecting structures from intrusion, while allowing entrance when needed - most frequently for maintenance or emergency services. They avoid the unattractive look of concrete barriers or tall fences, while providing maximum pedestrian access.
Preventing cars and trucks from damaging property or posing risk to pedestrians is a major concern for architects, planners and security professionals. Bollards are the simplest, most secure and least expensive way to protect structures from vehicle and security threats.
Interest in retractable and fixed bollards - providing a safe and secure perimeter around properties - has grown exponentially in recent times. Reliance Foundry chose to add
retractable bollards to their growing bollard product line to provide property owners and managers with an attractive way to manage traffic flow in areas where access might need to change. These new collapsible or telescopic bollards are reliable as fixed bollards when in place, but can also retract in ground and reopen reliably with minimal effort.
Retractable bollard installation details are simple, yet very critical to ensure proper bollard function. Retractable bollard receivers are always installed in concrete below grade. When retracted, the bollards are flush with the pavement to prevent trip-fall hazards. Each bollard has an integrated locking system, preventing unauthorized removal or adjustment of the bollards above ground. When retracted, the bollard post is easily lifted from within the in-ground receiver, and locked into place. With a simple twist the bollard cylinder retracts flush into the surface.
