Colors shown above may not appear true when viewed on your computer monitor. This is due mainly to the wide variation of color, brightness and contrast adjustments of the various personal computer monitors in use.
Please request color samples from Reliance Foundry for accurate color comparisons. We will be pleased to send you actual powder coating color chip samples for your review.
Custom colors are also available, but may require some investigation and extra costs.
What is Powder Coating?
Powder coating is the newest of the surface finishing techniques in common use today; it was first used about 40 years ago. Powder coating is the technique of applying dry coating to a part. In normal wet painting such as house paints, the solids are in suspension in a liquid carrier, which must evaporate before the solid paint coating is produced. In powder coating, the powdered paint is electrostatically charged and sprayed onto the part. The part is then placed in an oven and the powder particles melt and coalesce to form a continuous film.
Why We Choose Powder Coating
Powder coating produces a high performance coating which is relatively hard, abrasion resistant, and tough. The choice of colours and finishes is almost limitless. When powder coated items are installed without damage and they are maintained regularly, they should enjoy a long service life. The correctly applied coating, although not metallurgically bonded to the metal bollard, will not crack, chip or peel as with conventional paint films.
A quality coating is essential to the success of a project, but quality is not achieved with good powder alone. A comprehensive pre-finishing process is the first step to ensure the longevity of the product. Improper surface preparation can lead to a short-lived finish; that is why Reliance Foundry machines or grinds the surface of our Bollards prior to Powder Coating to provide a long life with maximum visual appeal.
