Bollard Installation Decorative Installations

Decorative Bollard Mounting Options

Some bollards are intended purely for ornament.  As standalone architectural or landscaping features, they can border, divide, or define a space. They can be accents. They can be sentries. They can be supporting players to some larger and more dramatic architectural gesture. Decorative bollards are manufactured to harmonize with both traditional and contemporary architectural styles.

Reliance Foundry's decorative, stand-alone Bollard mounting system.
Decorative Bollard Installation Details

An industry leader in the design and the manufacturing of decorative bollards, Reliance Foundry is proud of our long history and commitment to quality. All of our Bollards can be used for architectural and landscaping applications, and differ in style, shape, and material.

Our Bollards have a long and low-maintenance service life and they are readily available from stock when you need them. They are also quick and easy to install; reduced installation time is one reason why Reliance Foundry's Bollards have become a preferred choice for installers.

Our Standard Bollard Mounting system is intended to set our Bollards in place where no security (interior) pipe Bollards are required.

There are several versions of our decorative, stand-alone Bollard mounting system, depending on whether or not these will be installed into new or existing concrete;

  1. New concrete applications - using our Standard Bollard Mounting system Anchor Casting
  2. Existing concrete applications - using a concrete insert
  3. Existing concrete applications - using our epoxy mount system

New concrete applications

  1. Step One - Installing the Standard Anchor
    • The Standard Mounting anchor is to be placed within the concrete form, and set in place so that the top of the anchor will be flush with the concrete grade.
  2. Step Two - Installing the Bollard
    • Once the concrete has cured, place the bollard base over the anchor and insert the threaded rod through the receiver hole in the bollard base, being sure to line it up with the threaded hole in the anchor.
    • Hand tighten the threaded rod until it bottoms out.
    • Apply the washer, nut and then tighten with a wrench.
  3. Step Three - Installing the Cap
    • Install the bollard cap by placing it on the top of the bollard base.
    • Tighten the three set screws equally to secure the cap to the base.
    • Apply a light coating of silicone to each set screw before installing and tightening.
    • Apply a small amount of silicone over the top of the set screw after tightening; this will help reduce corrosion due to the elements.
    • Install plastic caps (supplied with your shipment) over top of the set screw holes after applying a small amount of silicone in the set screw hole.

Existing or new concrete applications (using a concrete insert)

  1. Step One - Installing the concrete insert
    • Using a Hammer Drill and a 1” carbide tipped masonry bit, drill a 1” diameter hole 3-1/8” inches deep.
    • Then tap the concrete insert into the hole using a hammer driving it into the hole until the top of it is flush with the surface of the concrete.
    • This will set the insert in place.
  2. Step Two - Installing the Bollard
    • Place the bollard base over the insert
    • Insert the threaded rod through the receiver hole in the bollard base, being sure to line it up with the threaded hole in the insert.
    • Hand tighten the threaded rod until it bottoms out in the insert
    • Apply the washer, nut and then tighten with a wrench.
  3. Step Three - Installing the Cap
    • Install the bollard cap by placing it on the top of the bollard base.
    • Tighten the three set screws equally to secure the cap to the base.
    • Apply a light coating of silicone to each set screw before installing and tightening.
    • Apply a small amount of silicone over the top of the set screw after tightening; this will help reduce corrosion due to the elements.
    • Install plastic caps (supplied with your shipment) over top of the set screw holes after applying a small amount of silicone into the set screw hole.

Existing or new concrete applications (using an epoxy adhesive)

  1. Step One - Installing the threaded rod
    • Using a Hammer Drill and a 1” carbide tipped masonry bit, drill a 1” diameter hole 3-1/8” inches deep.
    • Then fill the hole with the epoxy and insert the 1” threaded rod and let it set for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Step Two - Installing the Bollard
    • Place the bollard base over the threaded rod through the receiver hole in the bollard base.
